Fencing is an Olympic sport, often called the game of physical chess. It improves coordination, balance and reflexes. Classes cover primarily foil, a light thrusting sword, but also introduce sabre, the modern equivalent of the cavalry sword, and epee, the modern equivalent of the rapier. Students are introduced to footwork, handwork and strategy formation. By the end of the course, students will be fencing and refereeing actual bouts.
